How to make favicon.ico available at application root

Dean Del Ponte-2
The standard is for the favicon.ico to be located in the root of the deployed web application.

Grails does not follow this convention.

What is the recommended way to make the favicon.ico available at the root level?  So instead of at /images/favicon.ico it should be available at /favicon.ico

The one caveat is that this application is locked down and would likely need changes to the UrlMappings to expose the new favicon location.

Thanks!

The de facto standard is <link rel="shortcut icon">, which the default
Grails templates do follow, and this allows you to put the icon in any
directory with any name.
