How to use JProfiler to detect the methods having performance issues

clr meno
If I were to use JProfiler for performance monitoring, what are the steps to follow?
Should I be starting the application server and click on the "Attach to JVM" . Should I also open the application and execute the rest calls for it to log the hot spots for each flow? Or should I just keep the server running?
