Listing http sessions from a quartz job

pgf
Is there any way to have a quartz job list all the active Grails http sessions? Ideally I want to build a list of session IDs every hour or so.

There's no way to do this in a container-agnostic way (there was but it was removed from the spec as a security risk a few versions ago).

I've done it in the past with an  HttpSessionListener that adds references in the sessionCreated method and removes them in the sessionDestroyed method.

How about the reverse, then? Given a list of http session IDs can I check from a quartz job to see if they are still active?
