Sporadic ContextConfig error

John Moore
Occasionally, for no reason I can determine, I get this ContextConfig error when I'm developing in Grails, whereupon my webapp is unusable without a restart.

2010-03-03 16:49:10,284 [main] ERROR startup.ContextConfig  - alt-dd file C:\Users\John\.grails\1.2.1\projects\barnes1/resources/web.xml not found

I have no idea what the alt-dd file means. Anybody else come across this?

Re: Sporadic ContextConfig error

I have the same here on 1.2.0, trying to find a workaround.

Re: Sporadic ContextConfig error

Stephane Maldini-2
Some precisions :
  • I made a clean
  • I use web.xml path definition on BuildConfig.groovy : grails.project.web.xml="web-app/WEB-INF/web.xml"
  • I tested on 1.2.0 and 1.3 snapshot
  • Deploy as a war is fine

Re: Sporadic ContextConfig error

Fixed :
Line 50 TomcatPlugin -> src -> TomcatServer.groovy:
Replace by
context.setAltDDName(buildSettings.webXmlLocation.absolutePath)

instead of

context.setAltDDName("${buildSettings.projectWorkDir}/resources/web.xml")

Mmmh can't commit this change this is not hosted on codehaus. If a core dev member can valid the fixe, would be great :)

A little up for this minor but annoying bug, the fix is one line.
