compileGroovyPages task results in jvm hotspot error on RHEL7

Vijay Lakshman

We have Multi-module project on
Grails: 3.2.11
Gradle: 3.4.1
OS: RHEL 7.4GA
JDK/JRE:  1.8.0_141 or  1.8.0_144 (tried Oracle and OpenJdk)

Running ./gradlew build results in a JVM hotspot error

also tried following
./gradlew build --no-daemon --console=plain
./gradlew compileGroovyPages --no-daemon --console=plain

The build works fine on Windows 7 as well as a barebones Test project on RHEL7.

Any pointers to resolve this error is appreciated.

Thanks,
Vijay
